European Commission unveils EU grids package to modernise electricity network

The European Commission has presented the EU Grids Package, a set of legislative and policy measures aimed at modernising and expanding Europe’s electricity infrastructure. The Package seeks to address long-standing bottlenecks in grid development, improve permitting processes, and support investment in both transmission and distribution networks. Its goal is to create a more integrated, resilient, and future-proof energy system capable of supporting high shares of wind and other renewables.
Enshore Subsea awarded German offshore grid cable installation projects

Enshore Subsea has been awarded three initial projects under a six-year framework agreement with Nexans for cable installation in shallow waters. The projects, planned and installed by TenneT Germany, will support offshore grid connection systems, each designed to transmit 2 GW of renewable energy from the North Sea to the mainland.

German consortium develops robotic systems for floating offshore platform maintenance

The Fore-Pair consortium has begun work on autonomous robotic technologies for inspecting, maintaining, and cleaning floating offshore platforms, including floating wind and floating solar systems. The project has received about €10 million in federal funding from the German government.
US court rejects federal pause on wind permitting after multi-state challenge

A Boston District Court judge has ruled in favour of 17 states and the District of Columbia, including Massachusetts and New York, finding section two of the 20 January “Wind Order” unlawful and directing federal agencies to end the indefinite pause on wind energy permitting. Section one of the order, which suspends wind energy leasing, remains in force.
Nordex to supply turbines for Alliant Energy Midwest projects

Nordex has announce it has been awarded contracts by Alliant Energy. Following regulatory approvals, Nordex will supply Alliant Energy up to 190 turbines of the N133 and N163 Delta4000-variants for projects in the Midwest, including Iowa, USA. Turbine installation is scheduled for 2028 and 2029.
